There are dozens of options for an accessory rail on the AR-15 platform, but this one is substantially different from others. The Ballista Nautilus system has two different rail sections that are each capable of being rotated 360 degrees in 45 degree increments. So, what does that mean to you? Well, you can put even MORE accessories on your rifle! Although, you may have to get yourself a gym membership. If you wanted to have a bipod on your rifle for prone shooting AND a fore grip for closer situations, you can very well do it and just rotate that rail section to one option or the other.
Or how about running a back up red dot for your powered main optic? Well, you can do that to by rotating one of the rails to a 45 degree position and with an easy twist of your rifle go back and forth from long distance to close range. What other options can you add to this rail? There are more than there is time to post. Although there are other options on the market to solve some of these questions, the Nautilus gives you answers to questions you haven’t even thought of yet. I guess the last question is whether you really need to spend $795.00 on such a thing. Check out the movie after the stats:
The NRR consists of 2 separate and adjustable rail systems. Both sections are comprised of 4 individual Picatinny 1913 rails, which can be rotated 360 degrees, in 45 degree increments, in either direction by depressing the actuating button. It is constructed of aircraft grade, 6061 T6 hard-anodized aluminum. It can be mounted to any AR style platform. This revolutionary design allows the user to have instant access to 8 different accessories without the use of tools or the removal of other devices. This shift on the fly technology provides a significant advantage to the user in any sport, tactical or combat situation.

Slick free floating AR-15 forearms have been around for a long time, pre-dated most fully railed forearms, and have always had a strong following. They are generally lighter weight than their fully loaded picatinny cousins, and allow you to place rails where you need them and none where you don’t. The minimalist style has come full circle and more and more manufacturers are going back to the slick modular rail design to let their customer decide how they want to set up their rifles. Personally, I like the look and feel of a slick forend. I am also always looking to shave off a couple ounces here and there, and this is another way to do it.
Daniel Defense is now releasing a 9″ version of their Modular Float Rail which originally came in a 12″ model. The new 9″ further proves Daniel Defense’s slogan of “Lighter, Stronger, Better.” The 9″ Modular Float Rail is not stronger than the 12″, but it is lighter (2 ounces) and I believe that does make it better. If you have not seen or heard of the MFR before, as seen in the picture above; the free float forearm has a continuous picatinny rail on the top and comes with three picatinny pieces for the user to install anywhere it is needed and comfortable. Look for them very soon at all major Daniel Defense retailers.

Daniel Defense has released a new rail system for the AR platform. The MFR (Modular Float Rail) 12.0 is a 12″ rail system for the AR-15 that allows the user to install rails where they need it or run it completely slick. The MFR is capable of attaching picatinny rail pieces at the 2,3,5,6, and 11 o’clock positions. One of the benefits of this modularity is to be able to customize your setup and reduce the weight down to a minimum of 12 ounces (3 ounces lighter than the DD AR-15 Lite Rail). The MSRP is $249.00 and comes with all the equipment needed to install the rail system. If you are looking for a slim lightweight rail system with enough space to install everything that is needed and nothing that isn’t, the MFR 12.0 is right for you.
