New Aimpoint Patrol Rifle Optic (PRO)
February 17, 2011
Public expectations of law enforcement have always been high and complex. Officers are expected to exercise the best course of action in every situation, with quick resolution and zero residual effect. Threat engagements must be quick and accurate. In response, agencies across America are working hard to increase staffing, apply new techniques and field state of the art equipment; all within the constraints of a tight budget.
Recently, the team at Aimpoint saw an opportunity to help. New for 2011, Aimpoint has released the Patrol Rifle Optic (PRO).
Known for their high quality and reliable products, Aimpoint has become the benchmark in red dot optics. Military, law enforcement, and civilians have used their products for years with positive results. The new PRO is no different. It wears many of the features found in Aimpoint’s higher priced models including hard anodized coating, night vision compatibility and long battery life (up to 3 years – constant on). The PRO also features a 2MOA red dot and QRP2 mounting system allowing use on AR15 platform rifles equipped with backup sights. The QRP2 mounting system comes with a detachable spacer that, once removed, lowers the height of the optic and becomes compatible with rifles like the Sig 556. The QRP2 uses a torque twist knob which, while not the fanciest adjustment option available, is highly functional.
The Patrol Rifle Optic has a streamlined but tasty feature set and an extremely reasonable price tag. Although marketed primarily to law enforcement agencies on a budget, the PRO serves as a fine addition to any combat or civilian sport rifle.
